President Ilham Aliyev made these statement during a meeting with the first residents who moved to the city of Shusha. He remarked on the restoration of Shusha’s historical monuments post-II Karabakh War, noting, “Construction work in Shusha actually began immediately after the end of the war. First and foremost, a road to Shusha had to be built. As you know, before the occupation, the road passed through Khankendi. Therefore, the Victory Road was constructed from the city of Fuzuli to Shusha within a short period of time. Now an even wider main highway is being built. It will be a beautiful four-lane road with seven tunnels, nine viaducts, and many bridges, with completion expected by the end of next year.”

Regarding restoration efforts, the President stated that the process began promptly: “First, the Vagif Mausoleum was rebuilt and restored to its original appearance. After that, the Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque and then the Saatli Mosque were restored. Today, we inaugurated the Mamayi Mosque after restoration. Restoration work has already begun at the Chol Gala Mosque. The Mehmandarov Mosque and the House of Mehmandarov have been restored. Currently, four hotels are operating, including the largest five-star Shusha Hotel, which reflects the modern image of Shusha, while being built in the traditional architectural style of the city. Today the Shirin Su Bathhouse has also reopened after major renovations. Restoration and renovation work at the Ashagi Govhar Agha Mosque is nearing completion. The monument to Uzeyir Hajibeyli, previously destroyed by a savage enemy, has been returned to its original location. The bust of Vagif, also destroyed by Armenians, has also been restored to its previous form. The house of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, destroyed by Armenians, is being rebuilt and will be completed this year. Several other important events have taken place.”
