The regional conference held in Masalli on the topic "Religious radicalism: as a threat to national-religious solidarity" continued its work with panel sessions.
The first panel session of the conference, dedicated to the topic "Religious external influences and the fight against them", was moderated by the teacher of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, doctor of philosophy, associate professor Elvusal Mammadov.
Jahandar Alifzade, the head of the Department of Religious Affairs of the State Committee, spoke about the negative external influences on the religious environment of the country, the politicization of religion, as well as the social, political and legal foundations of the fight against threats.
Rashid Talibov, the head of the Caucasian Muslims Administration for Masalli region, drew attention to the importance of forming exemplary religious figures and their education, and noted the necessity of using the right religious sources.
Elnur Mustafayev, head of the Religion and Public Opinion Department of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Ziya Bunyadov of ANAS, PhD in philosophy, associate professor Elnur Mustafayev shared his views on the effectiveness of the activities of religious communities in preventing religious radicalism and extremism, which has become one of the most dangerous global problems for humanity in modern times.
In the second panel moderated by the director of Baku Theological College, Doctor of Philosophy Mehman Ismayilov, discussions were held on "The responsibility and role of religious figures in the promotion of national and moral values".
Jeyhun Aliyev, the deputy executive director of the Fund for Propagation of Moral Values, drew attention to the responsibility of religious figures in the promotion of national, religious and moral values in society.
Aslan Habibov, a teacher of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, Doctor of Philosophy in Theology, associate professor, said that the greatest role in preventing the display of intolerance towards others falls on the clergy.
Mirniyaz Mursalov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, Doctor of Theology, Associate Professor Mirniyaz Mursalov approached the activities of religious figures from the context of Azerbaijanism ideology and non-sectarian principles.
After the speeches, opinions were exchanged and questions were answered.
Speaking at the end, Gunduz Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, emphasized that religious figures have a unique role in increasing the influence of religious education work. He pointed out the importance of holding the Forum of Azerbaijan Clergymen on the topic "Actual issues of religious education: tradition, experience and perspectives" in order to learn opinions and suggestions about the activity of clergymen and religious communities, the difficulties they face.
