On December 4, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, visited the Six Domes and Gilaki synagogues located in Guba.
Ramin Mammadov said during a meeting with religious figures working in places of worship that in our country, which is rich in religious diversity, there has never been a case of discrimination on national, racial and religious grounds. An environment of mutual trust has been formed between all peoples living in the territory of Azerbaijan. The Chairman of the Committee noted that the existence of a multicultural environment in our republic shows that religious tolerance is the way of life of the Azerbaijani people.
R. Mammadov, who spoke about the ongoing development of state-religion relations, noted that the state provides financial and moral support to the activities of denominations in order to promote the diversity traditions that serve the spiritual enrichment of society. Mosques, churches, synagogues and other houses of worship are being repaired and restored, and new ones are being built and put into use.
Representatives of religious denominations expressed their gratitude for the attention and care shown to them by the state.
The Chairman of the State Committee also got acquainted with the activities of the Museum of Mountain Jews in Qirmizi qasaba (Red settlement). It should be noted that the museum, which exhibits national costumes, jewelry, manuscripts, books, antiques and other valuable exhibits reflecting the historical heritage and ancestors of the Mountain Jews, is located in the old synagogue building.
