On October 25, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, visited the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Mary.
After getting acquainted with the church, Ramin Mammadov said that the policy of state support to religious confessions, which was founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, is being successfully continued by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in accordance with the challenges of the modern era. The Chairman of the Committee emphasized that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, pays special attention to the restoration of historical and religious monuments.
The Chairman of the State Committee noted that ensuring freedom of religion in our country and providing state support to Religious Institutions serve to further strengthen the traditions of tolerance.
Archpriest Dionisiy Svechnikov, Secretary of the Baku Diocese Administration, and Alexander Novikov, the head priest of the church, expressed their satisfaction with the conditions created for the performance of religious rites in Azerbaijan and noted that the church is always surrounded by the attention and care of the state. In 2019-2021, they appreciated the large-scale restoration work carried out in the church by the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev as a commendable step and expressed their gratitude.
