A meeting was held between the leadership of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Justice Penitentiary Service on the organization of joint activities.
At the meeting held at the Head Office of the Penitentiary Service, Major General Mirsaleh Seyidov, Deputy Minister of Justice - Chief of the Penitentiary Service greeted the guests and noted that close cooperation with state institutions is being implemented in order to ensure the rights and freedoms of convicts and arrested persons according to the instructions of Farid Ahmadov, the Minister of Justice. Stating that the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations always takes practical steps to ensure the freedom of conscience and religious beliefs of the prisoners, the deputy minister emphasized that there has been close cooperation between the Committee and the Penitentiary Service for many years, and that joint projects in the social adaptation and correctional works of persons deprived of their freedom have been successfully implemented.
Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, said that different religions and ethnic groups have lived together in Azerbaijan for centuries, religious tolerance has always prevailed in the country, and constitutional rights and multicultural values are an important part of state policy. Paying attention to long-term joint activity, Chairman of the Committee emphasized the importance of expanding the work of educating convicts on the freedom of conscience and religious belief. He noted that the State Committee is always ready to hold regular meetings and events to discuss current issues in order to organize joint activities.
Prospects of future cooperation were discussed at the meeting, opportunities were evaluated. A joint Action Plan was signed between the parties for the purpose of coordinating activities in the next years.
In the end, the guests got acquainted with the memorial corners of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and Victory martyrs in the new museum at the Head Office of the Penitentiary Service and took a commemorative photo.
