The participants of the Baku Global Summit of World Religious Leaders held under the slogan "World Religions for a Green Planet" within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) saw the traces of Armenian vandalism in Agdam, as well as the actions carried out by the Azerbaijani state after the liberation of the city from occupation, got acquainted with the restoration and construction works.
Religious leaders first came to the Alley of Martyrs in Agdam city. Eldar Seyidov, the deputy special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend regions, informed the guests about Martyrs' Alley and the vandalism committed by Armenians there. He said that in Aghdam Martyrs' Alley, the heroic children of the Motherland, who were martyred in the First Karabakh War, as well as some of the city residents who were killed in the Khojaly genocide, were buried. Armenian vandals, who destroyed everything in Aghdam, also dug and destroyed the graves in Shahidler Alley.
The religious leaders then came to Juma Mosque in Aghdam city. They were informed about the destruction of cultural, historical and religious monuments by Armenians and the restoration and construction works carried out by the Azerbaijani state after the liberation of Aghdam from occupation. It was reported that Armenians committed unprecedented acts of vandalism against the historical and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan in Aghdam, as in other regions they occupied. Monuments, cultural centers, mosques, cemeteries in the region were destroyed and insulted. One of the historical and religious monuments subjected to Armenian vandalism is Juma Mosque in Aghdam city. Aghdam Juma mosque was built in 1868-1870 by the architect Karbalayi Safikhan Karabagi. This mosque, which is on the list of nationally important monuments, belongs to the "Karabakh mosque architecture" school. Armenians did not destroy the mosque for military purposes and used its minarets for coordination. The minarets of the mosque were dismantled from the inside, the ceiling was blown off in several places, and the designs and inscriptions were deliberately made unusable and unrecognizable. Armenian vandals showed their hatred towards Azerbaijanis and the Muslim world by keeping cattle and animals in Aghdam Juma mosque. After the liberation of Aghdam, the Juma Mosque was restored and returned to its former appearance.
Muslim clerics prayed in the mosque.
