Clergymen have been appointed for the first time to the Aghdam and Zangilan mosques, which were put into use within the framework of the program of restoration of historical and religious-cultural monuments in the territories liberated from occupation, with the special attention of President Ilham Aliyev and the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
On August 6, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, met with Mehman Nasirov and Mushfig Farzaliyev, who were appointed imams of Juma Mosque and Zangilan Mosque in Aghdam.
The Chairman of the State Committee emphasized that the appointment of imams to the mosques built in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur is another fact that shows the return of life to the lands that were occupied by the enemy for nearly 30 years. He noted that after the victory of the Azerbaijani army under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief, the measures taken to restore our religious monuments and mosques at the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva show how much the state and people of Azerbaijan are connected to their religious, historical and cultural heritage.
R. Mammadov noted that religious figures have an important role in conveying the basics of the Islamic religion to people, and in religious and ideological education. He said that the promotion of the ideas of Azerbaijaniism, the protection of national-spiritual values, historical-religious traditions should be the main directions of the activity of religious figures.
Clergymen emphasized that they are proud of being assigned to mosques built in territories freed from occupation. Noting that they highly value the care given to religion and religious figures by the state, they brought to attention their proposals regarding the activities of mosques and religious communities.
