The regional conference on "Traditionality and Modernity in the Globalized World" has ended
The regional conference on "Traditionality and Modernity in the Globalized World" held in Mingachevir on December 10 continued with panel sessions.
The panel session dedicated to the theme "Traditional Islam: historical experience and modern realities" of the regional conference was moderated by Jeyhun Aliyev, the deputy executive director of the Fund for Propagation of Moral Values.
Agil Shirinov, rector of the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology (AIT), spoke about the role of traditional values in the protection of unity within the society. He emphasized that the peaceful and peaceful living of people belonging to different religions in our country for centuries shows the adoption of tolerance as a practical basis in the traditional religious life of Azerbaijan. The traditional religious thinking in our society is based on inter-religious tolerance, as well as the principle of brotherhood between Islamic sects, and shows an open position against discrimination.
Sahib Aliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Public Unions and Religious Institutions Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, drew attention to the inadmissibility of some groups' purposeful exploitation of the concept of secularism. He said that although the Republic of Azerbaijan is a secular state, the state's concern for religion is at a high level. State independence, the ideology of Azerbaijanism are the ideals that unite the society, and our religion is our moral value.
Gunduz Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, while making a presentation on the subject, approached religion from the level of Sharia and culture and commented on different views. He said that traditional Islam plays an important role in preventing foreign religious-ideological influences that promote politicization and divisiveness.
In the panel "Responsibility and role of clerics in the promotion of national and moral values" moderated by Mehman Ismayilov, the director of Baku Theological College, opinions were exchanged on increasing the activity of clerics in promoting and promoting the true essence of Islam, preventing foreign religious movements and harmful influences.
Aslan Habibov, teacher of AIT, PhD in theology, associate professor, drew attention to the negative manifestations of sectarian bigotry, which is one of the factors that have a negative impact on inter-sectarian relations in the history of Islam.
Speaking later, AIT teacher, Doctor of Philosophy in Theology, Kovsar Taghiyev, shared his views on the history of modernization thought in the Islamic world. He also voiced his opinion about the image of an exemplary cleric in the example of Haji Majid Efendi.
Ali Mammadov, regional governor of the Caucasian Muslims Administration, touched on the role of religious figures in the expansion of religious education and the further development of state-religion relations. He said that providing financial support to religious leaders, regular repair and restoration works in places of religious worship are examples of the state's care in this area.
After the speeches, opinions were exchanged and questions were answered.
Speaking at the end of the event, Ramin Mammadov noted the need to regularly hold such events in order to adapt religious education to modern requirements, and analyzed the proposals and issues raised in the panel sessions. He said that today, the most effective way to prevent attempts to use religion as a tool to realize the interests of various centers, as well as to direct religious differences to polarization in society, is to create strong personnel potential in this field. The chairman of the State Committee emphasized that the development of religious education has become a necessity to realize strategic goals.
