On December 5, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, got acquainted with the activities of the village mosques of "Pirkend", "Tazha Shahr" and "Gobugiraghi" in the city of Khachmaz.
The Chairman of the State Committee, in his conversation with religious figures, emphasized that under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, consistent measures are being implemented in the field of protecting national and moral values, tolerant traditions, and religious diversity. He said that religious figures have important responsibilities in promoting intercultural dialogue, mutual trust and respect between religious communities. Ramin Mammadov noted that in preventing harmful religious-ideological influences, tendencies to create inter-religious enmity and discord, the activity of religious figures is also important, along with state institutions.
Later, Ramin Mammadov visited the "St. Nicholas the Wonderworker" Orthodox Church in Khachmaz. After getting acquainted with the church, during the conversation with the clergy working here, the Chairman of the Committee drew attention to the achievements of our country in the field of multiculturalism and state-religion relations. He noted that the repair and restoration of places of worship belonging to different religions in Azerbaijan and the regular allocation of financial aid to religious institutions reflect the sensitive attitude of the state to religious values. In our country, representatives of all nations are treated with great attention and care, and important steps are taken in the field of protecting their moral values.
During the meetings, the clerics emphasized that they support the policy of tolerance and multiculturalism of the Azerbaijani government and highly appreciate the work done in this field. After listening to the proposals of the participants of the meeting, Chairman of the Committee said that increasing the level of professionalism of the clergy is an important requirement of the time and projects related to the expansion of their effective activities will be implemented.
