Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, on September 3.
During the meeting, ideas were exchanged in the direction of further improvement of state-religion relations, expansion of relations in the field of education between religious communities operating in our country. It was noted that under the leadership and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, very important measures are being taken in the direction of protecting the system of national and moral values of our religion and our people in general, developing and promoting the traditions of tolerance and multiculturalism. The model of state-religion relations existing in Azerbaijan serves to deepen mutual understanding and solidarity between religious communities, as well as creating an opportunity for the free exercise of religious freedom. It was stated that protection of ethnic-religious diversity is one of the main directions of state policy.
At the meeting, discussions were held regarding preparations for holding a summit of world religious leaders within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29. It was noted that the cooperation between the State Committee and the CMO is of great importance in solving the technical and organizational issues for this prestigious event, which confirms that the reputation of the Azerbaijan state is growing in the world, and that there is great trust in our country at the international level. There was an exchange of ideas and various ideas and proposals were discussed regarding the issues that are waiting to be resolved regarding the visit of the guests who will be invited to the summit. It was emphasized that it is necessary to represent the representatives of the State Committee and CMO in the organizational committee to be established for the effective coordination of preparations for the summit of religious leaders to be held within the framework of COP29.
