The Chairman of the State Committee got acquainted with the activities of the Martyrs' Mosque
On September 19, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, visited the Martyrs' Mosque and met with religious figures working there.
The Chairman of the State Committee noted that serious reforms are being implemented in the direction of the development of various fields in our country, and state-religion relations are not left out of this attention and care. He said that although religion is separate from the state in Azerbaijan, the state always supports this field. President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, First Vice-President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva are particularly sensitive to the preservation of national and moral values. Ramin Mammadov reminded of the responsibility of religious leaders in promoting the values of our religion and voiced some recommendations. He also pointed out that the Committee attaches special importance to the intensification of mutual cooperation with religious figures who serve the spiritual enrichment of society.
Ihsan Açık, Counselor of Religious Services of the Turkish Embassy, who gave information about the mosque, said that the religious chapel was built by the Turkish Religious Foundation as a symbol of friendship and fraternal relations between the two countries with the aim of commemorating those who died during the events of January 20, 1990 and in the Karabakh war. He emphasized that the mosque, as one of the religious and historical places of Baku, is often visited by both the local population and tourists.
At the meeting, the opinions and suggestions of religious figures were heard. The speakers highly appreciated the measures implemented by the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the field of development of our country, protection of our religious, national and moral values, repair and restoration of our mosques, strengthening of social protection of religious figures, improvement of the material and technical base of religious communities.
