Chairman of the State Committee visited the Catholic Church
Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, visited the “Holy Mother Mary” Catholic Church in Baku, where he familiarized himself with the church’s art gallery, prayer hall, and administrative building.
During a meeting with Bishop Vladimir Fekete, Head of the Apostolic Prefecture of the Catholic Church, Chairman Mammadov emphasized the special attention and support provided to the Catholic religious community by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He noted that this policy is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. The Chairman also highlighted the dedication of the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, to the Catholic community, and the close cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Roman Catholic Church.
Ramin Mammadov discussed the importance of promoting the tradition of harmonious coexistence among various groups within the country’s social and cultural environment under the President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership, stating that this serves as a key factor in Azerbaijan’s purposeful development and rapid progress.
Bishop Vladimir Fekete provided detailed information about the history and activities of Catholicism in the country, expressing his satisfaction with the state’s support for the community. He emphasized his appreciation for Azerbaijan’s role in promoting multicultural values.
The meeting also addressed proposals for expanding cooperation among the diverse religious denominations existing in Azerbaijan and further developing traditions of multiculturalism and religious tolerance.
